Community Service
Are you interested in sharing your quilting skills, donating quilts (and smiles) to our local communities and having fun while doing sew?
Community Service Committee (CSC) oversees Quilters' Guild of Acadiana's donations to the community.
The CARE quilts are donated to:
-
Military veterans in nursing homes
-
Hospice facilities, sheriff/police/file departments (kids quilts to carry in their vehicles when a child has experienced a traumatic event)
-
Kids and adults in shelters
-
Any other persons in need of a CARE quilt plus a smile!
Fabric and other quilting supplies are donated by the generosity of quilt members. We prepare "Kits" and distribute to guild members who volunteer to help with our cause. You can complete any part of the "Kit" (piecing only, piecing + quilting, etc.). When returned to CSC, we finish the quilt, add a quilt label and donate accordingly. We also accept complete quilts (non-Kits).
